BSU hosts “Culture Tags”

The Indiana Wesleyan University Black Student Union (BSU) hosted a general meeting in the Hub where students played “Culture Tags.”

Culture Tags is a card game that tests contestants’ knowledge of culture concerning hashtags and acronyms. A card is chosen by a moderator who must give hints for contestants to correctly guess the right answer.

Amani Johnson, the vice president of the BSU, helped organize the event.

“I think it went really well, and I loved how many people related to it because everyone has heard at least one of the tags. I enjoyed how everyone had a bonding experience over them,” Johnson said.

Sophomore Mya Lacey attended and participated in the event. Lacey said the event was intense.

“It was a competitive atmosphere but deep down everybody thought it was fun. Just a bunch of people hanging out together and being competitive,” Lacey said.

The subject tags chosen for the game were Church, Family & Friends, and Song Lyrics. There were eight tags for each section for a total of 24.

“I should have known the church section a little better considering I grew up in the church,” Lacey said.

Sophomore Faith Clayton attended the event and scored 17 out of 24.

“Wasn’t bad at all. I understood the ones I missed after the game was over. I was 8 for 8 on the family and friends section so I’m an all star,” Clayton said.

BSU president sophomore MJ Brown said the next event the BSU will have is a 90’s throwback party on Friday Nov. 22.

“Put your fit on. Put your best 90’s fit on. Will will be having “guess that song” and also Mr. and Mrs.Throwback, so whoever has the best fits will get an award at the end,” Brown said.

More events are in the early stages for the upcoming spring semester.
