McConn and SGA host Pumpkin House

McConn and SGA collaborated and put together a pumpkin house party on Halloween. They had pumpkin painting and the workers at McConn served drinks from a special menu along with pie.

There was a section in the commons for people to paint pumpkins and then a section by McConn to order drinks at tables and play games.

Addi Frangell, a freshman, said she heard about Pumpkin House through her peer educator.

“My peer educator told me about Pumpkin House and how she went to it last year and had a lot of fun,” Frangell said.

Chloe Stevens, a student, said they had a bunch of fun mixed drinks to order.

“I got a fun drink at pumpkin house called the harvest cola which was with cherry and vanilla creamer mixed with coke and topped with a cherry,” Stevens said. “Most of the drinks were made from a soda base with different syrups and then they also had a matcha one with pumpkin in it.”

People also played a variety of games at the tables as well.

“The table I was at played a couple of different card games and the surrounding tables around us also brought cards too,” Stevens said.

Many students who attended Pumpkin House dressed up in Halloween costumes. Frangell and Stevens both dressed up as Care Bears for a group costume.

McConn and SGA put in a lot of thought and time into making this event happen.

Lexi Gunn, a member of the SGA and one of the people helping run the pumpkin house, said a lot of the work was collaborating with McConn.

“We put in a lot of collaboration with McConn to make this event happen like creating the drinks, what activities we were gonna have and setting it up,” Gunn said. “SGA mainly came in to be extra hands to help put it together to be able to serve all the students and each waiter had their own section.”

Pumpkin House had a great turnout, with many students showing up to order drinks and paint pumpkins.

Gunn said they had set up a table for students who could not grab a table to get a chance to order drinks and get a slice of pie. Gunn said Pumpkin House was still fun to put together despite the slight changes from past events.

“It was such a fun event to put together because it was a little different from what we have had in the past,” Gunn said.
