IWU hosts annual Homecoming Derby

Residence halls across campus competed in the Homecoming Derby on Thursday between South
and Beckett Hall. The Derby is a relay race that consists of roller skates, mini-tricycles, scooters and
hopper balls, and the track was outlined by hay bales.
Luke Dennis, a junior from Hodson Hall, said the feeling of being in the race was unlike
anything he could describe.
“When you get on there, and you start bouncing, you can hear everyone chanting your name,”
Dennis said. “I’m thinking I’ve got to make sure that I finish first for my hall.”
Hodson Hall won The Derby. It was the fourth straight year in which they had accomplished this
feat.
