Ellie Kelleher’s three-point shot appeared on SportsCenter Top 10 on Monday, February 3rd. Her shot was against Bethel University on February 1st.
“It’s a great player making a great play and a big moment,” Head Coach Ethan Whaley said.
Kelleher had her first career start on Wednesday, January 29th, where she scored a total of 16 points against Grace College.
“She had a pretty big role, and I thought she handled it in stride. She played really well and was a big reason for our team’s win that night,” Whaley said.
Kelleher is a Freshman Guard from Carmel, Indiana.
“I grew up the youngest girl, and I have two older brothers and two older cousins. It was always like we were playing football or football in the yard or basketball in the driveway. And I just always loved playing basketball, and my brothers and cousins just really put me into it. I just fell in love at an early age.”
The team is currently 23-0 overall and seems to be very connected.
“I just feel like as a team, we’ve grown so close together, and ultimately, we’ve also grown towards God, which I just think is something that you can’t ask for anything more,” Kelleher said.
One of the team’s greatest strengths is connection.
“I think we are each other’s biggest fans, and a lot of times, you see teams get disconnected when things get hard. But when things get hard for us, that’s when we come together even more,” Izzy Reed said.
Izzy Reed is a Senior Guard on Indiana Wesleyan University’s women’s basketball team.
“Ellie has done an awesome job of just putting the work in all season, and now there’s an opportunity. A door was open, and she put in the work and prepared to step up. She’s been great, and I’ve been super proud of her,” Reed said.
The women’s basketball team looks to continue their undefeated season this Saturday against Saint Francis in Luckey Arena at 1:00 pm.
