Indiana Wesleyan’s Student Activities Council hosted Fallapalooza over Homecoming weekend.
This year, Fallapalooza was held on Shatford Lawn on Friday night and included dancing, lawn games and a photobooth, among other features.
This longstanding IWU event has been a tradition for many years, always taking place over Homecoming weekend. A long awaited festivity, the dance is usually country themed, but this year there was a new spin on the event: a carnival theme.
Through an Instagram vote, SAC polled the student body on their preferred theme and the resounding winner was the carnival theme.
This change in theme demonstrates SAC’s commitment to continuing to provide new experiences for IWU students. Keeping the same events while refreshing certain aspects of them allows students to enjoy familiarity while experiencing new things.
First-time Fallapalooza goer Chloey Graham said that she “liked how hype it was” and appreciated the different parts of the event, such as the lawn games and bonfires.
“Count me down for next year!” Graham said.
IWU student Hudson Black said that he appreciates SAC putting together events like these.
“If you put together fun events for people to come out to, it only grows the community stronger…it causes people to get closer on campus,” Black said.
From the perspective of SAC, Event Coordinator MJ Brown offered some thoughts.
Though Brown has attended Fallapalooza in the past, this is his first year helping plan and run this event as a part of SAC.
“[This event] involves a lot of preparation and a lot of creativity and care to make it fun for students who come to have a good time,” Brown said.
Fallapalooza continues to be a favorite event among the IWU student body. It is one of the highlights of Homecoming weekend.
SAC’s next event is ‘Twas the Night, which will take place after Christmas Break.
