SGA elects new executive leaders for upcoming school year

Kaylynn Miller and Eric Whisler II were voted executive leaders for 2026-2027 in the Student Government Association elections that took place on Feb. 24.

Miller and Whisler’s motto for their campaign was, “SGA is the place to go.” Their motto hits a main point on their agenda, to help students find answers to their questions.

Kaylynn Miller, incoming SGA president, said SGA acts as a connection point for students to administration and a resource for students to find their answers more quickly.

Throughout their term, Miller and Whisler are looking to expand their office hours and make them more known to students for a more accessible space for conversation.

Kamryn Williams, sophomore, voted in this year’s election. She said as a student, it is important to vote because SGA representatives take suggestions from students on what can be changed to make their experience better.

Miller and Whisler were the only candidates for this year’s executive leadership positions.

“It taught me how to have a more open perspective to listening to people,” Miller said.

She said the purpose of running for this position is to represent the students and listening to how she can do that best helped her and Whisler form their agenda.

“SGA seeks to serve students, so students should not be afraid to come and visit us during our office hours,” said Eric Whisler II, incoming SGA vice president.

Along with the president and vice president roles being filled through the election, the cabinet and assembly were voted for by students. Positions yet to be filled are the applied sciences representative and graduate representative.

Miller and Whisler will begin their term with an emphasis on accessibility and communication, to carry out their motto, “SGA is the place to go”.
