Softball: Lady Wildcats Stay Hot, Split Key Series

Indiana Wesleyan softball continued its strong season, surpassing the 30-win mark with a dominant road sweep of Goshen earlier in the week. The Lady Wildcat exploded offensively, outscoring the Maple Leafs 21-2 across two run-rule victories. A quiet start in game one quickly turned into an offensive showcase, highlighted by an 11-run sixth inning and a complete-game shutout from Avery Toole. The momentum carried into game two, where IWU jumped out early and never looked back, showcasing depth both at the plate and in the pitching circle.

The Lady Wildcats followed that performance with a crucial Crossroads League showdown against Saint Francis, splitting the doubleheader. Game one delivered late-inning drama, as Sara Ruble and Danica Fuller powered a walk-off comeback victory. The Cougars responded with a decisive win in game two. With the postseason approaching, IWU remains firmly in the conference title race, though weather has already begun to impact scheduling with a postponed matchup against Marian.

Baseball: Tough Tests Against Top Competition

Indiana Wesleyan Baseball faced a challenging stretch against No. 1 Taylor, dropping multiple games despite flashes of offensive production. Across the series the Wildcats consistently generated hits and runs, including double-digit hit totals in multiple contests, but struggled to contain Taylor’s powerful lineup, which capitalized with timely home runs and big innings. Despite the setbacks, IWU showcased resilience at the plate, with players like Matthew Drozlek and Ben Seitzinger delivering strong individual performances. The Wildcats will look to regroup quickly as they shift focus to another ranked opponent, Indiana Tech, in what continues to be a demanding late-season schedule.

Men’s Golf: Dykema Leads Strong Finish

The Wildcats men’s golf team turned in a solid performance at the Music City Classic, finishing tied for sixth as a team. Junior Sam Dykema led the charge with an outstanding individual showing, finishing tied for third at 11-under par, highlighted by a remarkable second-round 65. Freshman Ryan Parker also impressed with a steady, even-par tournament, signaling a promising future for the program. The strong outing helped IWU climb one spot to No. 20 in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Poll, as the team builds momentum heading into its next competition.

Women’s Golf: Top Four in Competitive Field

Indiana Wesleyan Women’s Golf secured an impressive fourth-place finish in a 21-team field at the Music City Classic. Freshman Addison Meadows led the Wildcats, tying for 11th and closing strong with a final-round 73. Senior Clarie Dubois and junior Kylee Purdy added key contributions, helping IWU remain competitive against a deep field.

The performance reflects the team’s consistency and balance, as multiple players contributed to the top four result. With postseason play approaching, the Wildcats appear well-positioned to make a strong push.

Men’s Tennis: Redemption in the Postseason

It was a week of ups and downs for IWU Men’s Tennis. After dropping matches to Bethel and Goshen to close the regular season, the Wildcats flipped the script when it mattered most. In the Crossroads League Tournament quarterfinal, IWU delivered a dramatic 4-3 upset over No. 23 Goshen.

The match came down to the final singles contest, where Timo Fischer battled through adversity to secure the last point in a third-set tiebreaker. The victory showcased the team’s resilience and keeps their postseason hopes alive as they advance to the semifinals.

Women’s Tennis: Tournament Push Gains Momentum

The Wildcats Women’s Tennis team experienced a mixed week but responded in dominant fashion when postseason play began. After a narrow loss to Goshen in the regular season finale, IWU rebounded with a commanding 4-0 sweep of Spring Arbor in the conference quarterfinals. Strong doubles play set the tone, and the Wildcats quickly closed out singles matches with authority. With momentum on their side, IWU now turns its attention to a semifinal matchup against Goshen, aiming to avenge the earlier loss and continue its tournament run.

Track & Field: Records Fall at Little State Championships

Indiana Wesleyan Track & Field delivered one of its most impressive performances of the season at the Indiana Little State Championships. The Wildcats recorded multiple top three finishes and set program records, including a standout decathlon performance from Ridge Willard and a record-breaking men’s 4×100 relay team.

One the women’s side, the 4×800 relay team achieved an NAIA “A” standard, highlighting the program’s national level competitiveness. With numerous athletes posting qualifying marks and podium finishes, IWU heads into the Drake Relays with significant momentum.

What’s Next

The week ahead is packed with postseason implications across multiple sports. Tennis continues conference tournament play, track and field heads to a major nation-caliber meet, and softball and baseball look to solidify their positions heading into the final stretch of the season. As the spring season intensifies, the Wildcats are showing both resilience and flashes of excellence setting the stage for an exciting finish.
