Ignite, an Indiana Wesleyan fundraising organization partnered with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, is planning for a semester full of fundraising events including flapjack parties, raging rodeos and much more.
Event planning for Ignite is well under way as the team has already secured various dates for the semester’s festivities.
The president of Ignite, Jamie Bryant, said their first event is going to be called Flapjack Madness and will happen on Jan. 24.
“It’s going to be a partnership with the admissions office,” Bryant said. “They’re inviting 100 high school seniors (to campus) who are interested in learning a little bit more about what life is like at IWU outside of the classroom.”
Ignite also plans to host a pickleball tournament for students later in the spring.
One of the largest Ignite events that happens every year is The Rodeo.
Ryan Hornbeck, the director of fundraising, said “It’s an all-day event where the families that we sponsor through Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital come on in, and we basically throw a whole day long rodeo for them, and it’s different events each hour.”
The Rodeo is meant to connect the students to families that have worked with the Peyton Manning hospital. There are currently 12 families that are planning on attending the event.
Being a fundraising organization, Ignite is inviting potential donors to The Rodeo as well.
“It’s going to be marketed towards audiences that might be potential contributors to the cause that we raise money for,” Hornbeck said.
The Ignite team is passionate and committed to their fundraising efforts and bringing fun to campus. It is only the organization’s second year at IWU, and they have already developed a positive reputation on campus.
Alexis Sutton, an Ignite team member, said, “I know the heart behind the organization a little bit more now, but when I first joined, it was because I knew the passion that everybody had and I didn’t want it to be something that just died off.”
