Trader James undergoes changes

At the start of the spring semester, the shelves at Trader James have been a little barer than normal.

Some IWU students have noticed the issue and have opinions on the probable cause.

Sophomore Kenji Klee said she’s unhappy with this inaction.

“I’m kind of upset because I feel like I’m not getting the full experience I should be at this campus,” Klee said.

Sophomore Maria Miller said she does not attend Trader James very often normally and the empty shelves are not helping.

“I don’t go there a ton, but when I do go there, I just walk out because there’s not enough options for me,” Miller said. “I’m impartial, but I wish it was fuller. Then maybe I would go in there more.”

Pioneer director Rob Scott said he is working on a solution.

“This semester, I’ve been on a mission to spruce up our inventory at Trader James, making room for the stuff students actually crave! We’ve also been getting a lot of chatter about our prices, so we’re teaming up with our vendor to give them the ol’ once-over,” Scott said.

He also said Trader James will introduce punch cards in a few weeks.

“Something new at Trader James is we will be rolling out a shiny new loyalty rewards punch card! After 10 visits, students can snag a free candy bar of their choice!” Scott said.  “We’ll be fully stocked and ready to go by Tuesday, and the punch card kicks off on February 1st!”
