Students on Indiana Wesleyan’s campus are both excited and nervous about this year’s 2026 housing selection.
While many have roommates and suitemates there have been changes made to some of the housing allowing for some new opportunity for this year’s housing selection.
“I have seen how housing brings up a variety of emotions, some great and others not so great. I think that it really has to do with the individual resident’s situation and attitude towards it,” Savanah Grieve, Lodges RA, said.
Housing said in an email early February mentioning how the selection process goes and also the changes coming first the Fall of 2026.
Housing selection takes place from March 16th to the 23rd and it’s based on the credits you have already earned and are currently enrolled in for Spring 2026.
Changes that are coming to the campus include six person suites in Kem and Scripture Hall being changed to eight person suites as well as South Townhouses now have three blocks for men and three blocks for women.
Abby Etchison, junior, said that every year is stressful for her when it comes to housing, and she feels as if it is like The Hunger Games when it comes to trying to get into upperclassman housing.
Etchison also said, “This is obviously my last year for housing selection and thankfully I am not as stressed as I have been hoping that it should be easy to get into upper classman housing going into my senior year.”
As for the freshman though, this is their first time being a part of housing selection.
Eli Falkenberg, freshman, said he doesn’t know what to expect when it comes to housing.
Most freshmen unless you have a lot of credits end up in freshman housing again for their sophomore year. Falkenberg said he is fine with that and believes that a lot of the guys don’t take it as hard as some of the girls do, ending up in freshman housing for a second year in a row.
This coming week is both stressful and exciting, but through all the emotions it also means a new school year is on the way and students will continue to make plenty of memories with friends and the ones they get to live with.
Grieve gives a piece of encouragement to students about to select housing.
“Housing is all about flexibility, so I would encourage that resident to be flexible and go with the flow while also letting their opinion be heard,” Grieve said.
Invite all the group text and the different emotions. This is an exciting time of year, no matter where students end up, they will continue to find a purpose from their placement.
